How to get Here
The most important thing to remember is this is your holiday!!! it should not be a trial of endurance !! so do it gently. There is no enjoyment in trying to do a zillion miles a day because you will need a holiday to get over it when you return to the UK OK? and one day at this B+B another night in another is also not so good it is far better to chose 1 place get the bags off the bike and take day trips out.
Firstly for bikers descending from the North it may be worth considering sending ones wife/partner by aircraft to the region where we can arrange to collect, as they can carry more bulky items on the aircraft , plus not every wife enjoys 2 solid days sitting on the back watching everything go past at high speed, they can thus travel in luxury whilst the rider can enjoy a light bike, just a thought!.
there are 5 ways of getting here across France
firstly: Calais Reims Troyes on the A26, Dijon A31 ,Lyon Valence Orange A6, then A9 to Perpignan
Secondly : Calais Abbeville Rouen A16 A28 then fast dual carriageways to avoid Paris (my favorite route) Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, to pick up the A10 just above Orleans , then A71 to Clermont Ferrand and over the Millau bridge to again pick up the A9 to Perpignan
There is an alternative route only slightly longer if you have seen the Millau bridge and that is about 20 minutes south of Orleans you take the A20 to Limoges and Toulouse then Carcassonne where you head south on the D118 via Limoux and Quillan.
Another way of getting here is by ferry to Santander/Bilbao initially this may seem expensive but remember you will not be paying toll roads or for tyre wear as well as meals and a hotel mid country so you can arrive bleary eyed and hungover in Spain after 30 odd hours you then simply take the A8 in Spain to france and then A64 to Saint Martory where you take the D117 past Saint Girons, Foix and Quillan

There is also an alternative to the boat, there is a train service that leaves somewhere in Belgium that travels overnight across France which then deposits you at 8 am in Narbonne about an hours drive away this can be booked online in the UK
